Rolex Osprey Cup – Day 1 Five Flights Completed in First Round of ISAF Grade 1 Event

Yesterday provided
picture-perfect conditions for the seven international teams competing in
the Rolex Osprey Cup at St. Petersburg Yacht Club (SPYC), in Florida. With
sunny skies, 8 knots of wind and 80-degree temperatures on Tampa Bay, five
flights in the first round robin were completed in this ISAF Grade 1 match
race regatta. Over the next three days there are three round robins
scheduled, or 21 matches total. Each team gets a bye in each flight, with
the top two scoring teams advancing to the final round scheduled for Sunday,
December 2.

Three skippers – Charlie Arms (Vallejo, Calif.), Liz Baylis (San Rafael,
Calif.) and French skipper Marie Fauré – are tied with three wins and one
loss. Close behind, with two wins and two losses, are Arabella Denvir (IRL)
and Sandy Grosvenor (Annapolis, Md.). Sandy Hayes (Scituate, Mass.) and
SPYC junior sailor Evan Brown each have one win and four losses.

The Rolex Osprey Cup is and International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Grade 1
event, which allows the greatest number of ranked international entrants to
compete.
