One Red Dog (Stewart Thwaites) has won Boat of the Week at the 2008 Line 7 Race Week.

One Red Dog dominated both the General Handicap Division “A” and IRC divisions.
The One Red Dog crew of Stewart Thwaites, Rodney Keenan, Luke Tempest, Mathew McDowell, Simon Minoprio, Ryan Houston, Daniel Pooley, Ingo Schleus and Tapio Sorsa are deserving winners of the regatta’s major prize.

One Red Dog (8pts) won the IRC Division from Flying Boat (Mike Calkoen, 12pts) and Andiamo (Andrew Taylor, 18pts). One Red Dog won four out of seven races and took second place in the remaining three.

One Red Dog (19pts) also won the General Handicap Division “A” from The Guarantee (Murray Bridge, 24pts) and Southern Fun (Ian Franklin, 25 pts).

Underworld learned the hard way that just one second of elapsed time can cost you a podium finish. Their sixth equal in race 1 led to them finishing just half a point out of the medals.

Southern Fun (Ian Franklin, 6pts) easily won the PHRF division from Andiamo (21pts) and The Guarantee (25pts).

Titus Canby (John Wood, 27 pts) won the General Handicap Division “B” from After Midnight (John Floyd, 28.5 pts) and Esprit (Phil Bishop, 30.5 pts). There was especially close racing between the Ross 930’s Splash Palace (Geof Herd, 7th, 38pts), Airship (Dave Roberts, 8th, 40pts), Testarossa (Grant Reid, 9th, 43pts) and Stunned Mullet (Dennis Davies 10th, 44pts).

Arguably the best performed boat over all three handicap types The Guarantee with good results in every handicap/rating category. The Guarantee was second in the IRC Division, third in General Handicap Division “A” and fifth in the PHRF Division.

Many thanks go to our sponsors and the army of volunteers that helped the RPNYC get boats on the water without whose support it would not be one of New Zealand’s premier yachting events.
