Gold for France and USA at IFDS World Championship

The final races for the 2007 IFDS Disabled Sailing World Championship took place Friday at the Rochester Yacht Club, racing on Lake Ontario. Gold went to Damien Sequin of France (2.4mR), Karen Mitchell and JP Creignou of the USA (Skud) and Rick Doerr, Tim Angle and Bill Donahue of the USA (Sonar).

In the Single-Person 2.4mR, Damien Sequin of France was a clear winner. Second went to Heiko Kroeger of Germany with Thierry Schmitter of the Netherlands in third.

Megan Pascoe of Britain finished in sixth place and Helena Lucas ninth. Mike Cogswell was 17th, Nikki Birrell 20th, Tony Prior 32nd

In the Two-Person Skud event, Karen Mitchell and JP Creignou of the USA were the new title holders, with second Nick Scandone and Maureen McKinnon also from the USA. Carl-Gustaf Fresk and Annika Lindgren from Sweden were third.

Britain's Allan Smith and Jackie Gay finished 8th, Simon Harle and Val Millward 11th and David Durston and Rachel Morris 14th.

Sonar Three-Person Keelboat, and Rick Doerr, Tim Angle and Bill Donahue of the USA came through to take the title. With Paul Callahan, Tom Brown and Roger Cleworth, Tobias Schuetz and Siegmund Mainka of the USA in second and Jens Kroker of Germany in third.

Britain's double World champion, John Robertson with Hannah Stodel and Stephen Thomas, finished in sixth after leading in the early rounds. Andrew Millband, Brian Harding and Keith Jamieson finished 17th.
