'Work’s been quite demanding, so I decided to treat myself with a few days in the Whitsundays. I rang my skipper to fuel and provision the boat, caught the 7.30am flight to Proserpine for the grand sum of $79.00, checked into Airlie Beach’s Abel Point Marina and was settled aboard with a drink by 11.00am!
'After a lazy lunch with my mates and their wives at Airlie’s Verandah Restaurant, we powered the boat to nearby Nara Inlet. Set on the protected side of Hook Island, it’s one of the most picturesque and peaceful anchorages in the Whitsundays.
'Our fishing yielded a pair of Red Emperor which our skipper cooked for us with ginger and shallots. Fantastic! Dinner was followed by a couple of hands of cards under the Whitsunday stars.
'The following day we headed for nearby Whitehaven Beach, one of the world’s top ten. David made use of the seven-kilometre beach to get in some early morning exercise while the rest of us swam.
'We got back to Abel Point in time for the girls to relax with the last session at the new Endota Day Spa, while the boys settled into Coral Sea Resort, where we later dined on the lawn.
'Next morning the girls shopped at the local waterside markets while we squeezed in a round of golf at Laguna Quays, one of Australia’s finest courses, before reluctantly heading home.
'Why don’t you join me on my next trip? Whisper Bay and the Whitsundays offer the best waterfront and boating lifestyle I’ve seen anywhere. Please feel free to contact me for a detailed presentation.'
Whisper Bay is an absolute waterfront, luxury, north facing development that is located approximately 800 metres to the west of Airlie Beach township.
The development is also located 200m to the West of Abel Point Marina which enjoys the reputation of being one of the most modern and well equipped marinas in Queensland.
