Images from Day 1 of Skandia Cowes Week 2007 - Skandia Cowes Week is recognised as the 'must do' sailing regatta on the international sporting calendar as well as being a firm fixture in the traditional line-up of British Summer 'Season' events.
It is the longest-running and largest sailing regatta in the World of its kind and was first held in 1826. Skandia Cowes Week hosts almost 1,000 competing yachts and some 8,500 competitors, pushing their yachts and day boats to new limits in 37 separate classes - this is one of the World's leading pro-am events.
This is also a Rolex Fastnet race year, which will see many of the largest and fastest boats compete over a grueling 608 mile course. Onshore, Skandia Cowes Week has a unique party atmosphere and over the course of the Week, 100,000 people come to watch the racing and enjoy the festival shoreside atmosphere.
