Organizers of the yearly St.Maarten-St.Martin Classic Yacht Regatta 2008 announced today that the 'on line' yacht registration in the www.ClassicRegatta.com web site is open as from now.

Yachts willing to participate in the January classic can register on the Internet and submit their yacht information for review to the technical board of the classic regatta.

When a yacht has been approved to participate the captain or owner can pay the regatta entree fee by credit card trough a secure on line server in the web site, or by wire transfer, cash or local bank check.

Regatta entry fees have been set again at US $4.00 per feet if the registration is received on line.

Yachts who want to wait until one day before the start will have to pay US $6.00 p/ft.

Several yachts have already indicated their interest to come to St.Maarten to participate in the regatta.

Organizers hope to attract over 30 classic yachts, vintage yachts, schooners, wooden boats, spirit of tradition and other classics to the event.

The classic regatta in St.Maarten-St.Martin the third week of January is the first Caribbean classic of the year, The Grenada Classic Yacht Regatta is the second one in February and Antigua Classics the last one in late April.

Sponsor negotiations are going well with more companies showing interest and several sponsors of the first and second edition continuing to support the event.

Regatta organizers are hoping to receive finally some financial sponsorship support from the Dutch and French side government, previous attempts in the past years have not resulted in a contribution.

The 4 day program promises again a lot of on shore entertainment and good racing.

The preliminary schedule is available in the regatta's web site www.ClassicRegatta.com

The St.Maarten-St.Martin Classic Yacht Regatta is organized by West Indies Events for the St.Maarten-St.Martin Classic Yacht Regatta Foundation.
