by Cruising Editor on 31 Jul 2007
Superyacht finalist Pink Gin SW
The International Superyacht Society has released its lists of finalists for the 2007 International Design Awards. The yachts are chosen as the very finest in naval architecture, design, interiors, engineering and their build from the preceding calendar year.

The individual selection of each finalist results from ISS membership voting for five finalists each in five categories from nominees submitted throughout the year by the large yacht industry’s leading builders, designers and stewards. Three of the categories are power boats, and two are for sailing boats.

In the sail category 36 metres plus, the finalists are Kokomo, Mystere, Pink Gin (pictured), the Maltese Falcon(featured in our last issue) and Zulu.

In the sail category 23-36 metres, the finalists are Drumfire (pictured), Farewell, Gliss, Windcrest and Zurbagan.

The winning yachts in each category will be announced at ISS’s annual International Design Awards Gala, this year on October 25 in the Grand Ballroom at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort, Fort Lauderdale.

To see pictures of all of the yacht finalists, with complete information on each yacht including name, builder, architect, designer, decorator, stylist and other pertinent data, go to the ISS's web site

About the International Superyacht Society:

Society members are individuals and companies who have been recognized for their leadership and dedication to raising the standards of design, construction, maintenance, repair and operation of large yachts.

...and now for the Distinguished Crew Awards:
With the yacht finalists identified, ISS is now seeking nominees for its annual Distinguished Crew Awards (DCA). This most coveted industry acknowledgement is also presented at the ISS’s annual gala and has become one of the evening’s most anticipated announcements.

Industry, media and superyacht owners are encouraged to reflect on outstanding crew performance and to submit nominations for the DCA’s two categories: Individual Distinguished Crew and Team Distinguished Crew. Specifically, these honours are designed to 'recognize yacht crew whose distinguished acts of service best exemplify the standards to which professional yacht crew aspire.'
