Fast Track Sailing on course for Olympics

Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy today announced the appointment of Fast Track Sailing as its public relations agency.
Immediatly following the 2008 Bejing Games the spotlight will focus on the UK and for sailing this will centre on the WPNSA where the 2012 sailing events will take place.
The Academy will be the host sailing venue for the London 2012 Olympic Games and as part of their preperations for the Games will host many National, International and Olympic class events over the next four years.
Development of a new marina and additional facilities for the hundreds of competitors who will base themselves in the Weymouth and Portland area for the pre-Olympic events and training is already underway.

About the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy:
Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy has been selected by LOCOG and the RYA as the venue to host the 2012 Olympic sailing events and the surrounding waters are widely recognized as the finest sailing waters in the UK.
WPNSA received £7.3 million of funding in 2004 to develop a new purpose built Clubhouse and other onshore facilities. Major contributors were the National Lottery, South West Regional Development Agency, Sport England and the Royal Yachting Association. Many other contributions have been made including those from Dorset County Council, Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, West Dorset District Council, Charitable Trusts and individuals themselves.
A further $17 million has been agreed from LOCOG and the ODA to further develop the facilities in the lead up to 2012. Plans include the building of additional pontoons, an extension to the slipway and temporary facilities for the duration of the event such as additional showers and changing blocks.
Existing facilities on shore include a licensed clubhouse, restaurant, conference/ meeting rooms, slipways, a boat hoist, extensive dinghy and car parks, a permanent crane, and storage for all types of boats.
