Leg 1 race crew announced for djuice dragons
The race crew for leg one of the Volvo Ocean Race has been selected for
djuice dragons. After six months of testing and training in Miami and
Sandefjord, the final crew has been selected on the merit of their
skill, experience and psychological profile.

'The construction of a team is not a whimsical matter,' says skipper
Knut Frostad. 'Every element of our personalities have been assessed to
the minutest degree. When you're sailing with someone in a boat for nine
months, it's more than a matter of 'getting on well'. You have to ensure
there are strong decision makers, questioners, workhorses, someone with
an eye for detail and someone with an image of the big picture.
Together, we form a team made up of diverse but complementary
functionalities.'

'I have complete confidence in the crew. We have a great team attitude
and have worked hard on making every decision, large or small, together.
We are definitely ready for the start line,' added Knut.

The crew for leg one are:

Knut Frostad, NOR, skipper
Jean-Yves Bernot, FRA, navigator
Wouter Verbraak, NED, assistant navigator
Stig Westergaard, DEN, tactician
Espen Guttormsen, NOR, watch captain
Jacques Vincent, FRA, watch captain
Christen Horn Johannessen, NOR, trim/helm
Arve Roaas, NOR, trim/helm
Peter 'Spike' Doriean, AUS, trim/helm
Steve Gruver, USA, trim/helm
Mikael 'Micke' Lundh, SWE, bow
Jonas Wackenhuth, SWE, bow

djuice dragons' race boat will leave Sandefjord this Friday (August 31)
and be delivered to Ocean Village in Southampton by the sparring crew.
