Hamish Pepper reports on Expert Olympic at Garda

by Hamish Pepper on 20 Mar 2007
Builder and Starmeister, Stefano Lillia and Hamish Pepper with the new boat in Lillia’s factory in Lake Como, Italy Annabel Jeaffreson

On the weekend we finished the Expert Olympic classes’ regatta on Lake Garda Italy.

In picture perfect conditions, (which where not very suitable for sailing) we sailed the medal race. We were only able to achieve one lap before the race was shortened at the bottom mark due to a lack of wind. Although this was enough for us to get a result and win the regatta in our new boat.

It was a fantastic week getting the new boat up and running. We had a mix of conditions which gave me a list as long as my arm to do before the next major regatta. I can see great potential in this boat and this regatta was a good start for her.

At present we are at the Lillia Factory on Lake Como getting our trailer modified so it can carry our new coach boat, which we pick up next week. I see coaching as a valuable way to make steps forward for Carl and I so this will be one important piece to our campaign.

From here we head back to Valencia before heading to Palma on the 31st March for Princess Sofia regatta and straight after that the Eastern Europeans also in Palma.

Regards

Hamish Pepper
