Not only has the first Elan 340 for Australia just arrived here in Sydney but she comes bestowed with the prestigious award direct from Dusseldorf Boat Show.

The Elan 340 has just won Boat of the Year 2007 (Category 1).

This is the second Boat of the Year award for Elan in the past 12 months, last year winning the award for their 34ft cruising yacht, the Impression 344 for her clever design and sprightly performance.

Boutique boat builder, Elan and celebrated designer, Rob Humphreys' team has done it again and again. The awards just keep coming. It’s a quality, no compromise formula that has proven very successful.

The Elan 340 delivers it all. Boasting a long waterline, the first of Elan’s new style Performance Cruiser is a brilliant boat that sails outstandingly well to windward and even better downwind, performing well above the polars. Like all Humphreys boats, she is a very responsive boat to sail. Her lines are contemporary, her deck is simple and uncluttered, while the comfortable interior space displays a minimalist blend of materials, light wood and colours.

'Quite a few of us have been waiting for her arrival. I am looking forward to putting on her new sails and taking her out!' says Elan importer, Rod Parry. 'Another Elan 340 will be following very soon'.

Dusseldorf Boat Show is also the premiere venue for Elan’s new streamlined 41-footer, the Elan 410. This boat is the second model off the drawing board in this new styled Performance Cruiser, fitting neatly into what is now a sparse niche of 40 to 45 footers. The Elan 410 is one very special performance cruiser not to be missed.

Both the 340 and 410 are top performance cruisers with exceptionally long waterlines and are set to arouse that gnawing competitor within, but true to their name, these models entice the family to happily hop on board too and enjoy pleasurable cruising in designer comforts with a splash of new style.

The new Elan 3D technology production method used is a one–pass vacuum infused construction which results in a fast hull which is up to 50% structurally stronger than the average.

There are a lot of exciting things happening with Elan at this time. On the home front Navsail kick off the first couple of months with the arrival of the first 340 for Australia, more Elan 37’s, more cruising Impressions and among the orders is a superb performance rigged new style 2007 model Elan 31 for a cruising client who also club events.

'We are about to take delivery here in Australia of our eighth Elan 37. The 37’s that are currently club racing are always in top positions even against the much bigger boys. These boats are just outstanding in all conditions.

Contact Navsail for further details on these new models including the newly released flagship the Impression 514, a prestigious boat for the serious bluewater cruiser.
