470 Junior World Championship 2026 at Gdynia, Poland - Day 3

by International 470 Class Association 15 Jul 23:26 PDT 11-17 July 2026

Roy Levy and Ariel Gal Move to the Top

It was a long day in Gdynia on the third day of the Junior World Championships. The 470 sailors started racing as planned, but changing weather conditions affected the schedule. The wind was very unstable in the morning, and later it dropped completely, forcing the fleet to return to shore before racing resumed.

The most consistent team of the day was the 2025 Junior World Champions, Roy Levy and Ariel Gal. They finished 5th, 3rd, and 2nd in today's races, which moved them into the overall lead.

Lomane Valade and Julien Bunel had an excellent start to the day, winning the first race in the Gold Fleet. However, finishes of 10th and 17th in the next two races dropped them to second place overall.

Lisa Vucetti and Vittorio Bonifacio remain in third place overall and continue to lead the U21 category.

"The battle between us, the Norwegian team and the French team is really close. We haven't seen today's results yet, but we know they are very strong teams. We prefer medium winds. Yesterday's conditions were perfect for us. We had good speed and managed to read the racecourse very well. There are three Italian teams in the top 10, and we know them very well. The pressure is the same. They are our rivals on the water, but also our friends. Being in the U21 category is good because it means we still have time to improve. We are confident about our position and will keep improving," said Lisa and Vittorio.

The competition remains extremely close. In the U21 standings, Sviatoslav Madonich and Yelyzaveta Vasylenko of Ukraine are currently in second place, while Israel's Tehila Sidis and Amitai Levkovitz are third.
