Last chance to race at Hayling Island SC

The Christmas Cracker Open event for Dinghy and small Keelboats will be the last chance to race at Hayling Island SC this year. The annual open event is open to dinghies and small keelboats and will take place at HISC on Saturday 23 December.

The event will be an 'average lap' race with a first start at 12:00hrs. Follow the link for the NOR. The handicap splits for the start sequence will be posted on the Club notice board.

The Christmas Cracker is the final event of the season at HISC and we hope to see many of you down at the Club to get your last race in before the end of the year. The Club Bar and Restaurant will be open and we will be serving HISC roast at 12.30 until 3pm. Hope to see you all here.

Last weekend was the the final weekend for the HISC 2006 Winter Series and also the Christmas Box for the Cruiser fleets.

Cruiser Christmas Box:

Jamie Muir's Scarlett Jester was the IRC winner and Peter Tart's Louise, from Mengham SC, the Hayling Handicap winner of the Christmas Box races. Twelve boats took part, six in each fleet.

Second place in the IRC went to Richard Creer, Jo Jo Gunne and third Guy McBride, Exceat. In the HH fleet, second was Walter Brown, Ard Righ from Fairley YC and third John Lenhan, Samarai, Chichester YC.

Saturday Dinghy results - In the Slow handicap fleet, Tony Catchpole was the series winner, one point ahead of Barry Blaydes. Guy McBride was third, all sailing Solos.

The Medium fleet was won by D and A Roberts (RS200) edging ahead of Martin and Alison Stainsby (FF) in the final race, third were Tessa and Nick Lancaster (FF).

In the Fast handicap fleet, Nick Rawlings (RS700) won ahead of Neil Upton-Brown (Musto Skiff) with Dave Smithwhite (RS800) in third place. 84 boats took part in the Saturday Series.

Sunday Dinghy results - A family affair in the Slow handicap, Ol' man Iain Palmer beating son Ross for the honours (but for how much longer?). Damon and Flavia Roberts (RS200) won the Medium class, second Mark Howard (Laser) and third Helen and David harbour (Vigo). Fast handicap went to Mark and Jack Pollington (RS800) with second Martin Orton and Lucy Kennedy (RS800) and third Ian Pinnell (I-14).

In the class events, Nick Rawlings completed the weekend double, adding the Sunday Solo to his win in the Saturday Fast handicap (in an RS700). Second was Tony Catchpole and third Barry Blaydes. Jerome Bakker won the RS700 series, second Dave Smithwhite and third Simon Litten.

In the RS Elite class, Mike Dawe with Greg Lamb and Paul Carpenter was the winner ahead of Nick Peters with Mike Tong in third.

And finally the Flying 15 series was victory for Roger Palmer and Adrian Simpson, second Mark Wood and John Williams, and third Martin and Allison Stainsby. 128 boats took part in the Sunday Series.
