The Beneteau Cup – Peugeot Regatta is the culmination of a full year for Beneteau Owners Australia wide.
It follows a Victorian Beneteau Cup, Autumn and Spring Challenges, a sun-filled Hamilton Island campaign, an inaugural Queensland Beneteau Cup and numerous other racing challenges on the Australian sailing calendar.
A certain amount of interstate rivalry has sprung in recent years resulting in six crews travelling from Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and Victoria to compete for the ‘Best Performed Interstate Boat’ Trophy apart from the many other prize categories on offer.
The Beneteau Cup – Peugeot Regatta is reaching truly International status with the entry of a Canadian crew.
David Sutcliffe and crew of Vancouver, Canada have travelled well over 7000 miles in a Beneteau First 47.7 ‘Kinetic’ to participate in the 2006 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and will be testing their mettle against our local crews in the Beneteau Cup.
David discovered the great racing and party to be had in Sydney in November last year as a guest aboard another First 47.7 Kioni and decided he and his crew would have to be in Sydney in time for this year’s Beneteau Cup.
The 14th annual Peugeot Regatta – Beneteau Cup will take place next week on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th November on Sydney Harbour where a fleet of Beneteau yachts, including thoroughbred Firsts, cruising Oceanis and Cyclades, and classy Wauquiez Centurions will compete for amazing prizes and a decent breeze.
The Regatta is a colourful, fun event, complete with its competitive racing edge and social atmosphere. There are three Divisions: Spinnaker, Non-Spinnaker and IRC. Prize presentations, entertainment and dining with a ‘French flair’ will be held at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia following each day’s racing.
