420 Worlds goes to Hannah Mills and Peggy Webster

The International 420 Class Open and Ladies World Championships came to a close today, Sunday, 6 of August, in a last exciting racing day.

In the women's event the title went to the British crew of Hannah Mills and Peggy Webster, after a second and a third place in the two last races. Hannah Mills and Peggy Webster are also the current 420 Junior Ladies European champions, and they will compete in Tavira in Porugal next week to fight for the title again.

Tara Pacheco and Elena Barambio (ESP) who were leading until yesterday, lost their chance for the title gaining only a sixth and a seventh place. They finished, in second place. Italy's Benedetta Danti and Elisa Cecconi finished third.

Other britsih results from the Gold group were Sophie Weguelin and Katrina Hughes in eighth place, Sophie Ainsworth and Jasmine Husband in 20th, Amelia Hughes and Lesley Bannister 29th and Charlotte Lawrence and Poppy Husband 34th.

The men's title went to Carl Evans and Peter Burling from New Zealand who did not need to compete in the last race as, also the runners-up, Simon Cooke and Scott Illingworth (NZL) scored a DNC in the second race. Fernando Lodos with Julien Pulve as crew took third place.

Briton's Richard Mason and Dan Schieber fiished in fifth place, with James and Will Rusden eighth, and Neil Marsden and Chris Birrell 13th.
