Royal Southampton YC Frostbite series

The second race of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club’s Frostbite series was held on Sunday 15 January with a southerly breeze averaging 15-19 knots, gusting up to 27 knots at one stage. The Race Management Team set the Committee Boat off the Netley shore.

Class 1 saw Mike Henning’s Mumm 36 Alice take line honours and victory on corrected time by 95 seconds from Andrew Campbell’s Bavaria 44 Faze 3 with third David and Kirsty Apthorp’s J/105 J Dream.

The results of Class 2 are subject to a request for redress from Hunter 707 Tiger Feet which rescued a man overboard from The Flying Fish as well as a protest against Just Chilling.

Bill Howard’s Jeanneau Sunfast 37 Zebedee took line honours but victory on corrected time by five seconds went to Andy Phelps’ First 31.7 Electra. Second was Zebedee and third Steve Sault’s Sigma 33 Hooligan.

In the Multihull Class, first to finish was Raider 30 catamaran Roo skippered by Mike Yates. First on corrected time was George Burn’s Dragonfly 920 Extreme Force X with Roo second and third Simon Forbes’s Dragonfly 800 Scooby III.
