New bow thruster on display at Boat Show

by Event media on 29 Jul 2005
Oceantalk Australia, the distributors of Tacktick Wireless instrumentation, Hoteye thermal imaging and their own Super Digi Mobile TV tuner, has just released a new compact retract bow thruster from Max Power.

Finally an affordable solution for bow thrusters on modern yachts in the 37 – 45ft range is available – the Compact Retract unit. Previously tunnel installations proved unworkable on such vessels and even where possible, sailing performance was greatly inhibited by the excessive drag produced by the tunnel openings.

The compact retract is very space efficient, standing approximately 450mm high and will easily fit under a v-berth or in a bow locker. In a single motion it extends to the optimum immersion depth. When retracted it forms part of the hull leaving the lines of the boat clean and smooth with no impact on performance.

The Compact Retract thruster is available in 12 or 24V, with the electric motor inbuilt for fast and neat installation. The unit is supplied with Max Powers revolutionary smart control panels, which have many benefits such as intelligent time delay between port and starboard thrust avoiding shockloading, childproof activation and 20 second audio alarm warning before overheat shutdown.
Further to this, much like the tunnel style thrusters manufactured by Max Power, the drive legs are composite, pre-lubricated and sealed for life, meaning they are maintenance free with no anode required.
