The Maritime & Coastguard Agency will be releasing a Chinese/English DVD explaining the features and benefits of its Large Yacht Code at the Far East Show Boat Asia 2005, organised by Suntec Integrated Media.
The show begins April 14 at the Sentosa Cove Marina and runs through Sunday.
Boat Asia 2005 is a platform for the recreational boating industry, showcasing yachts, powerboats, super yachts, marine accessories, equipment and related services.
Besides boat and accessories exhibits, it will have technical and specialist seminars. According to a release, MCA representatives and surveyors will discuss construction, manning and safety issues on board luxury yachts.
The agency has produced a free DVD with Chinese and English subtitles that show potential yacht builders and designers the benefits of its Large Yacht Code.
‘We are very keen to continue working in the Asian region, where many interesting developments are taking place in Large Yacht activity, with a range of yachts being constructed in Chinese ship yards,’ said Frank Carter, head of ensign, in a release.
‘We are aware that many more charter vessels are moving into South-East Asian waters from their traditional bases in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.’
Carter said the MCA Large Yacht Code was originally intended for Red Ensign yachts over 24m, but has since been adopted as a worldwide standard.
‘We have been encouraged to hear that the visitor profile from across the region to the 2004 Show drew visitors from 44 countries and showcased 76 exhibitors from over 15 countries,’ Carter said.
‘By returning to Singapore, the MCA will be able to offer an improved service to all sectors of the large yacht industry, particularly at this important gateway to South-East Asia.’
Boat Asia 2005's list of exhibitors include Sunseeker, Holland Custom Yachts, Clipper Ventures, Ferretti, Simpson Marine, Lee Marine and Derani Yachts, among others. The range of boats will range from personal watercraft to 130-ft. mega yachts. The show will have much more on-water exhibition space this year.
