netIP Cold Hawaii PWA World Cup – The waiting game continues

The waiting game continued on day four of the 2016 netIP Cold Hawaii PWA World Cup with the small swell and light winds continuing. During the afternoon a fun SUP race was held, which saw Team France — Jules Denel, Antoine Martin, Camille Juban, Alex Grand-Guillot — came out on top.

With the conditions refusing to play ball — up to now — we caught up with a few sailors to see what they get up to while waiting for the wind and waves:

Adam Lewis: “Over the last few days I’ve been surfing and mountain biking, we’ve got quite a good crew so I’ve been out with - Flo [Jung], Robby [Swift] and there are some pretty good trails around Klitmøller. Fortunately, I’m staying with [Josep] Pons, so we’ve been doing some training with him over the last few days. The trick is to stay busy otherwise, it’s easy to become frustrated.”

Pablo Ramirez: “While waiting for the conditions we normally just prepare all the gear and everything for the contest, once all is ready we just spend time at the beach at the event playing ping pong or foosball, waiting till some expression session or something is run. Apart from that we just lay at home, there is always some email or something to work on, and then just watching movies is usually a great way to kill some hours…”

Leon Jamaer: “I kept busy with surfing and running the last few days. The weather has been perfect to enjoy the nature to the fullest around here.”

Tomorrow is a new day and with it, it looks like a new cold front arrives bringing the possibility of starting the main draw. The forecast is currently predicting westerly winds of up to 20 knots and the conditions should improve throughout the day. With this in mind, the skippers’ meeting has been called for 8am tomorrow morning with the action commencing from 8:30am (GMT+1) — if conditions allow.
