The Foiling Week fly to USA

by Foiling Week on 7 Sep 2016
Five classes will race in Newport - The Foiling Week Martina Orsini / TFW
The first American edition of Foiling Week will match the format tested in three editions in Garda, contextualizing arguments and regattas in the birthplace of the modern American sailing and yachting: Newport R.I.

The event will be hosted by sail Newport and supported by AcomeA, Zhik, Mighty Squirrel Beer along with Gurit that specifically sponsors the TFW Forum. Participation to the Foiling Week is open to all and foiling boats will be available for trial.

Foiling Week 2016 Garda was one of the first Green Regatta in Europe according to Sailors for the Sea, in the United States the same sustainability protocol will apply, aiming to lower the environmental footprint that an event based on the forces of nature should in any case consider.

Five classes will race in Newport: A-Class, Moth, Waszp, Kite-foil and Prototypes. Racing will be on from September 8th and a long distance race on Saturday will see all classes face on the Narragansett sound. Sunday racing will determine class winners.

The Sail Newport Waterfront Center at Fort Adams will host the first American edition of the TFW Forum. Among the topics, security and RRS which will have a dedicated round table on Friday.

New presentations of flying boats such as the Stiletto-Xf by Jay Phillips, a 32' cat by Andrew McPherson and the UFO by David and Steve Clark will be premiering in Newport but insights on Waszp and Vampire will also be on site.

The subject of development, always central at foiling week, will be addressed by Tom Speer who will once again speak at the Forum after his participation in the first edition of 2014 on Lake Garda, along side Pete Melvin, Nat Shaver, Don Montague, Steve and David Clark, and Bruno Giuntoli who will present the latest developments.
