Epic Naval sailing battle taking shape in the RNZN's 75th Anniversary year

The Royal New Zealand Navy, a long standing supporter of the Anniversary Day Regatta, has some competition this year! Visiting yacht crews from Australian and British navies will be competing with them on Anniversary Day and also during January at the Bay of Islands Race Week on three of the RNZN Chico 40's. But while competition on the water may be fierce, it's certain that off the water, the traditional camaraderie of these close allies will prevail.

RNZN Adventure Training Centre Manager Phil Bishop is upbeat about his sailors taking part in the annual yachting event. "There are strong traditional links between the Royal Navy, the Royal Australian Navy the Royal New Zealand Navy so we're looking forward to marking our 75th Anniversary with a bit of friendly rivalry and competition", said Bishop. "It's also a great opportunity for us to the practice the seamanship and boating skills, which every sailor in the RNZN knows the importance of."

Dragon boats at the Viaduct

Ports of Auckland Anniversary Regatta once again welcomes the mighty dragon boat teams to compete at the Viaduct. This hugely popular event will be running alongside several other Viaduct happenings including the Laneway Festival. The Dragon Boats will be competing 9:30am-4:00pm in the Viaduct Harbour and spectators are welcome.

East Imperial, a drink to remember

East Imperial is a new sponsor of the Auckland Anniversary Regatta this year and we welcome them on board. Their drink collection is led by their superior tonic water. This signature beverage aims to put the heritage, integrity and authenticity of original tonic water back into your tumbler.

Inspired by a 1903 recipe, East Imperial Tonic Water is small batched and blended using all natural Asian sourced ingredients, New Zealand artesian spring water and a cold filled process. This traditional method of production ensures that the freshness and the subtleties of the botanicals are protected, taking tonic water back to its origins.
