Mari Cha IV’s new record
by Barry Pickthall on 10 Jul 2004
Robert Miller's Mari Cha IV has smashed the San Francisco - Hawaii record.
The 140 foot, Mari Cha IV passed the Kaneohe finish line at 18:13 local time on Wednesday 7th July to set a time of 5 days 5hours 43 minutes 30 secs to slice 32 hours off the previous time set by Roy Disney's 72ft Pyewacket in 1998.
Mari Cha IV was built with one specific goal - to be the fastest offshore monohull racing yacht in the world. She already holds the transatlantic record and Robert Miller is now plans to attack the Jules Verne non-stop round the world record.
