2015 CSR Marine Melges 24 U.S. National Championship – Just when you thought the racing could not possibly get any more fun and exciting, the championships hosted by the Columbia Gorge Racing Association (CGRA) proved that it can if you are at the Gorge.

Three more races were added to the series including a discard placing Lake Geneva's Brian Porter on Full Throttle in first overall, three points ahead of Jeff Madrigali at the helm of Kevin Welch's Mikey in second. Bruce Ayres on Monsoon is currently in third.

While Porter celebrated at triple-bullet day, Madrigali and team were facing tough issues when one of their crew was taken to the hospital early Saturday morning with an injury potentially in connection with getting hit by the boom during Friday's races. Fortunately, things worked out well for the Mikey team as they successfully laid down an unphased 2-2-2 result, moving them up the scoreboard from fifth to second overall, and they received news that the crew injury was non-life threatening.

Matt MacGregor and his Good Enough team is basking in the Corinthian limelight as they sit atop a field of twenty-five competitors. The final race of the day was the most challenging as they faced an altercation with Herb Cole's Judo Chop at the first gate. They were granted redress, keeping them in the running.

All things change from behind though, Mike Bond on Honey Badger moves up to second from third and, Canada's Fraser McMillan on Swish had a remarkable day to finish third Corinthian/tenth overall.

Post racing teams enjoyed not only more free beer and refreshments, but also a nice dinner at the Marina Park. Tons of giveaways from sponsors were raffled off - t-shirts, hats and gear made the evening complete!

Sunday is the final day of racing at the Gorge. Racing commences at 1100 Pacific time. The award ceremony will follow immediately.
