Volvo Ocean Race 'Journey of Change' - The story of Team SCA

by Team SCA on 26 Jun 2015
'Journey of Change' - 2015 Volvo Ocean Race Team SCA
Volvo Ocean Race – Team SCA is pleased to announce that 'Journey of Change’, the story of Team SCA, is now available to pre-order ahead of its release in September 2015.

In 2012, SCA announced its commitment to bring women back to offshore sailing in the world’s toughest ocean race - the Volvo Ocean Race. With a 12-year gap since women had competed in this arduous event, a team was put in place to search for a squad of women capable of competing at the highest level of offshore sailing.

More than 250 applicants applied from all over the world and a final 15 women were selected for the Team SCA squad. From Olympians to solo round-the-world sailors and record breakers, they all had one aim - to bring female sailors back to the race.

The story of Team SCA is captivating. Ocean racing has traditionally been the preserve of men, but over a gruelling nine months Team SCA proves that women can compete on an equal footing. This visually impressive book tells the story of a squad of women with one common aim - to race competitively around the world. It gives a unique insight into life on board and the challenges the team face as they took on their global marathon.

A round-the-world yacht race is a wet-and-wild, oceanic rollercoaster ride that pushes the physical and mental boundaries of human endurance. A truly transformative experience. The dramatic and engaging images and stories of the crew from the onboard reporters, combined with the exceptional photography of Rick Tomlinson, make this an extraordinary book and a perfect gift. 'Journey of Change’ comprises 192 pages in an oversized format and is printed to the highest standards.

It is available for pre-order on Amazon for £30.00 by clicking here.
