With the launching of another Northshore 369 OD just two weeks away, Australia's own Northshore yachts are nearing the launch of their 700th new yacht.
Northshore yachts have been producing new boats since 1973 starting with the popular Cole 19 and 23. The range then increased to include the NS 27, NS 31, NS 33, NS-X 36, NS 38, NS-X 38 and NS 46.
Today Northshore Yachts continues to grow from strength to strength, current owners Geoff Pearson and his partner Bob Vinks took over production in 1996. They have continually upgraded the models as well as the manufacturing facility which is now located just over an hour north of Sydney at Berkey Vale on the Central Coast. You can visit the factory virtual tour at www.northshoreyachts.com.au/Production/under_production.htm
The current production line includes NS 310, NS 340, NS 369, NS 370, NS 380 and the NS 460.
The NS 370 and the NS 369 One Design have both been Northshore’s latest success story. Both these great boats have had great success by winning 'Sailboat of the Year' awards in 2000 (NS 370) and 2003 (NS 369).
Both models utilize the same hull mould where production numbers are nearing 40.
The latest 369 OD to be launched will be heading to her new owner at Palm Beach on Sydney’s beautiful Pittwater.
The 369, voted Australian Sail Boat of the Year in 2003 continues to be a great success.
The 369 has class rules, which include sail size measurements and restrictions for the amount of new sails you can buy each year. These rules are implemented for class regattas.
The next class regatta is currently scheduled for Sydney Harbour in July this year. With the emphasis on fun class racing it is certain to be another great event.
