South American Laser Championship concludes in Peru

More than 100 hundred sailors from 17 nations competed at the South American Laser Championship in the beautiful bay of Paracas, Peru from 17 to 26 October.

Jorge Barreda IJ-IRO (PER) worked as the Main Official and led a first-class team; the regatta area was unbeatable.

There were a total of 12 races for Laser Radial, 11 for Laser 4.7 and 11 for Laser Standard. The participants in this championship were looking to classify to the Pan American games that will be held in Toronto, Canada in 2015, both for Laser Radial girls and Laser Standard.

The winner of the Laser Radial class was the Peruvian Stefano Peschiera with Guatemala's Andrea Aldana taking the female honours. The qualifying spots for the Laser Radial were obtained by Argentina, Aruba, Uruguay and Chile.

In Laser Standard the winner was Juan Ignacio Maegli from Guatemala, and the qualifying spots for the class were obtained by Guatemala, Argentina, Chile and El Salvador.

In Laser 4.7 the winner was the Brasilian Odile Ginaid.
