Join the crew of the ORMA60 TeamVodafoneSailing as they slash 20 minutes off their previous record for the PIC Coastal Classic on Friday.
Also featured is video from the start, and another from on board Caro, a Botin 65 skippered by Round the World winning skipper, Mike Sanderson of Doyle Sails.
The Coastal Classic is a 119nm course from Auckland to Russell in the Bay of Islands. Originally conceived as a drag race between multihulls and monohulls, the race has grown to a major feature of the New Zealand sailing calendar, attracting 150 entries.
The monohull record also came close to being broken by Karl Kwok's Botin 80, Beau Geste and Jim Delegat's Volvo 70, Giacomo, the former Volvo Ocean Race winner, Groupama.
