CORK Fall Regatta and Laser Class District Championship 2014 CORK
CORK Fall Regatta and Laser Class District Championship 2014 - The second and final day of fall CORK brought some of the nicest weather we have seen all summer. Beautiful blue skies were filled with a 10-12 Knots of breeze, making this a perfect day for racing in Kingston.

The Laser fleet began the day with Robert Davis in first, Evert Mclaughlin in second and Alexander Heinzman in third. The first race of the day was lead and won by McLaughlin with Heinzman second and Davis in fifth. This closed the gap between Davis and McLaughlin. With the pressure on, Davis and McLaughlin battled it out during race five, while leaving the rest of the fleet behind. By Mark 4, Davis had won the lead and continued on to win the race. The final race of the regatta was a battle between McLaughlin and Davis. The two were battling off the start line and continuously throughout the race. McLaughlin was able to beat Davis in Race six; however, it was only by one boat, which was not enough to put him in the lead. The Results concluded with Robert Davis in first, Evert McLaughlin in second and Alexander Heinzman in third.

The Radial Fleet race four was lead and won by Matti Muru, followed by Justin Vettecoq. Race five began with Violet Stafford, the top female competitor, gaining a substantial lead on the first upwind leg, and continuing on to win Race. Vettecoq was able to win race six, putting him in first overall and the title of District 3 Radial Champion, Magi followed in second and Muru in third.

The 420’s regatta leaders, Pat Wilson and Arie Moffat, had a great start to the day with a bullet in race four, and on their tails were Georgia Lewin-Lafrance and Alison Sears. Race five was won by Jessica Lietz and Megan Ploch, followed by Wilson and Moffat and Lewin-Lafrance and Sears. Wilson and Moffat went on to win the final race of the day, putting them in first overall. Lewin-Lafrance and Sears finished second overall, and Lietz and Ploch in third.

Race five for the 29er fleet was won by Alexs Vagners and Daniel Sheedy, followed by Linor Berezin and Katherine Mceweb and Stephane Vinet and Sophie Vinet. The Vinet Sibling continued on to win race six and seven, with Berezin and Mceweb and Max Wood-Westenburg and Sam Thompson. Virginie Corbeil and Ben Strickland won the final race of the regatta, with Berezin and Mceweb on their tail, followed by Thompson and Wood-Westenburg. The regatta concluded with Berezin and Mceweb in first, Thompson and Wood-Westenburg in second and Vagners and Sheedy in third.

The Optimist fleet began the day with AJ Boucher leading race four, followed by Tate Howell, and Thomas Harries. Race five was won by Ian Doell, followed by Colston Howell and Audrey Staples. In Race six, Nicholas O’Brien finished first, Colston Howell finished second and Anna Morineau in third. The regatta concluded with Thomas Harries in first, Ian Doell in second and Tate Howell in third.
