PSP Southampton Boat Show - Yesterday (Saturday 13 September) at the PSP Southampton Boat Show the RYA launched a brand new title, the ‘RYA Advanced Powerboat Handbook’ adding to its existing stable of 150 printed publications and eBooks.

The RYA’s Publication’s Team were joined on the RYA stand by author, Paul Glatzel to quiz him on how he goes about writing a book like this and what readers can expect when they purchase a copy.

'As the official text for the RYA Advanced Powerboat course, this book addresses all aspects of syllabus, but it also looks beyond those aspects for commercial operators as well, providing even more detailed information for the advanced power boater', commented Paul.

When asked what the ‘must read’ parts of the text were Paul added: 'All the chapters are important, but at an advanced level the role of the skipper is essential, be that commercially, in rough conditions or at night. I would recommend starting here in the book and going from there.'

RYA Publications Manager Steen Ingerslev commented: 'This new title completes the RYA Powerboat series and has been written to compliment the RYA Advanced Powerboat course.

'Paul has done a great job in bringing the essential training points to life, which work equally well in both the printed and eBook formats.

'It’s perfect for instructors or anyone taking the advance course or those simply looking to further their power boating knowledge.'

Paul also took time answering visitors questions and signing copies of the new title.

Anyone who purchases a copy of the ‘RYA Advanced Powerboat Handbook’ (either at the show or via the RYA web shop) will also be automatically entered in to a free prize draw to win an RYA Advanced Powerboat Course, courtesy of Paul Glatzel’s RYA Training Centre, Powerboat Training UK.
