The European 18ft skiff championships are under way on Lake Garda, Italy. The regatta has attracted a big fleet from inside and outside Europe with crews from Australia, New Zealand and USA competing.

Day 1: Top US combination of Howie Hamlin and his crew (Scott Babbage and Matt Mac Kinley), scored three wins from three races on the opening day. Top results also for the German team Eurolink (Friedrich Renner) who have been very consistant on the first day and the Germans are second overall, just in front of Jarrod Simpson (UK).

Veteran 18ft skiff sailor skipper John Winning (AUS) and his crew won the two first races of Day 2 while English Jarrod Simpson was sailing well and 'conservative', finishing twice second behind the Australians and winning the last race of the day.

He is now leading the regatta, just in front the American Howard Hamlin and John Winning.

The long distance race was cancelled on Day 3 as the wind dropped dramatically and finally died. Thursday is a lay day. Back to action on Rriday Christophe Favreau presents these videos of the first three day's action.
