Seawind 1160 LITE Seawind Catamarans
Seawind Catamarans are currently developing a new variation of the iconic Seawind 1160 design, famous for its innovative layout including tri-folding doors and indoor / outdoor space and will debut at the Sydney International Boat Show in August 2014.

The new Seawind 1160 LITE will feature a new modern interior design with new lightweight materials, including foam core doors and laminate finishes, a walk-in wardrobe and wet locker plus extensive internal storage thanks to external storage of tanks and motors.

The LITE will feature 20hp outboard motors with electric tilt, providing a further weight reduction and providing low maintenance and even better sailing performance due to motors having no drag.

The construction of the LITE will feature Osmosis preventative vinyl ester resins being exclusively used throughout the hull construction, with vacuum bagging being applied to the entire layup of the hull, deck and internal furniture. A carbon reinforced forward beam will replace the aluminum beam, and will be laminated into the deck and hull to provide superior stiffness to the monocoque structure.

With 115 Seawind 1160's built since 2004, this proven design has now gone through another stage in development to create a cruising catamaran that that is lighter, cheaper and has a more contemporary interior. Never before has there been a 38ft production cruising catamaran for such an amazing introductory price of US$310,000 (excluding taxes, shipping and commissioning). This equates to around A$430,000 inc GST delivered to Australia.

Seawind Catamarans have recently completed its relocation of production to the Corsair Marine factory located in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam, with all three models now under production including the Seawind 1000Xl2, Seawind 1160 and Seawind 1250.

The facility consists of three large factories and ancillary buildings with 8,000 square meters undercover where approximately 200 people are employed with key managerial positions are filled primarily with expatriates, some from the Australian Seawind factory, of which many have had accumulated decades of experience in their fields in Australia.

Five Seawind 1160 LITES have already been sold sight unseen and this new model is proving to be the next best seller for the 30 year old company.

Seawind Catamarans are distributed in Australia by Multihull Central. For more information call Brent Vaughan on 02-9810 5014 or brent@multihullcentral.com.
