A Paint App to (almost) replace your marine store assistant

by Renate Johns on 22 Mar 2014
Paint Guide App from Interlux SW
As long as you have a smart phone of some sort, the digital world has made a dramatic entrance into the sailing world in the last few years. Now, it seems the days of haunting the paint shops and asking innumerable questions of those patient marine-store types might just be over. Here's another App (this time from Interlux) that could revolutionise the way you decide painting questions.

The Interlux Boat Paint Guide has gone digital with the launch of a free app for Apple® IOS and Android smartphones and tablets, designed to make it easy to access product information and select the correct paint system.

The new Boat Paint Guide App features:

• A Quick Reference Guide. So on the App you'll be given, right there in your cockpit, all the detailed information about the various products and which one may be right for you.

• Then, in the same App, there's a paint calculator to estimate how much paint you will need for your boat, so you won't need to go into those lengthy calculations you once needed (or multiple trips to the marine paint store).

• It'll then give you all the quick tips you need about health and safety while using the paint. (Remember, that's what that old guy at the paint shop used to do)

• Now when you're all ready to purchase, guess what. Even if you're in a foreign port, you can consult the 'store locator' to find your nearest dealer by address, or your location.
