Couran Cove signs lease deal with Hope Island Marina

by Promedia on 18 Mar 2014
Couran Cove Marina SW
Ramada Couran Cove Island Resort has relocated its ferry terminal to Hope Harbour Marina, where it will remain for at least the next eight years and potentially up to 18 years.

The new departure point at 1 John Lund Drive, Hope Island was chosen for its modern facilities, secure car parking and easy access.

The resort has signed an eight year lease with two, five year options effective from today (March 14).

Ramada Couran Cove Island Resort owner Craig Dowling said the new facility would work extremely well and was pleased to be relocating to a permanent base.

'Hope Harbour Marina is a world class facility centrally just 45 minutes from Brisbane Airport and 35 minutes from Coolangatta,' he said.

'Located in Marina Quays International Resort the marina is fresh and modern with conveniences including a general store with fishing tackle and bait.

'Secure parking with a boom gate and ticketing system is already in place and we plan to eventually move guest check-in to the ferry terminal.

'This will streamline the process for guests, giving them more time to enjoy the island's facilities and relax as porters take their bags from the ferry to their room.

'We are also investigating the possibility of serving coffee, tea and snacks at the terminal.'

The ferry takes about 35 minutes and leaves at least twice a day.

Mr Dowling said those who wanted to visit the island were welcome by ferry, water taxi or private boat.

Marina berths at Couran Cove are available for a day rate of $50 and overnight for $100 and boaties will receive 50 per cent of their mooring fees back in food and beverage vouchers.

'The trip to the island by ferry is part of the whole experience and guests will see some of the Gold Coast’s finest homes as they make their way down the south arm of the Coomera River to the open Broadwater and 40 knot speed zone,' Mr Dowling said.

'The lease arrangement we have finalised with Hope Harbour gives us certainty into the future and will be more user friendly than our previous options at Runaway Bay and Paradise Point.'

Bookings for both are for the berths and ferry.
