Sydney Yachts are proud to announce a new high performance offshore cruiser racer range - the Signature series. The first models in the range are the Signature 47 and the Signature 39 now in production for first half 2004 delivery.

Numbers of these new cruiser racers will be cruising north for Hamilton Island race week followed by more extended cruising.

The racing fleets in Australian stand testimony to Sydney Yachts understanding of offshore conditions.

A record 26 Sydney 38’s competed in the JP Morgan Sydney 38 One Design series, the largest One Design Yacht race in Australia’s history.

The Sydney 32 OD fleet which has just competed in its first National Championships, is likely to surpass the numbers of 38’s in years to come.

Sydney Yachts has an unmatched record with its Australian built high performance offshore race winners, built for southern ocean conditions and exported to the world.

However in recent years, its custom division has been producing luxury performance cruisers.

Storm 2, the recently completed Warwick 66 from Sydney Yachts, has won significant acclaim from around the world for its stunning interior and impressive attention to detail.

With another 60 foot custom yacht starting construction shortly on the back of Storm 2’s amazing quality, its clear that Sydney Yachts excellence is in strong demand in the luxury and performance cruising area.

The latest fusion of these already very successful and proven racing/cruising elements, provides a new and exciting option to the traditional imported cruising production yacht.

Incorporating the latest hull and foil developments from the very successful racing models, the new Sydney Yachts Signature series will also include a higher level of interior finish than has traditionally been available in a production cruiser, along with the ability to semi customise this to owners tastes and sailing plans.

Modern swept back spreader rigs with non overlapping headsails will make sailing easier, in the fast paced world of varying crew numbers and ability.

The cruising deck layout provides a larger cockpit for entertaining and taking advantage of our Australian conditions. The spacious and well-appointed interior guarantees a new level of cruising comfort.

These new Murray Burns and Dovell designs will be very stiff and effortlessly fast, in both light and heavy conditions and very suited to IRC racing when owners want to flex the boats performance potential.

At other times, they will offer safe offshore sailing and the fastest passage making production yacht range available in Australia.

The Signature range can be customised during construction for short handed sailing and for extended cruising, with motorised winches and sail handling controls, furlers, autopilots and interior layouts etc.

Sydney Yachts impressive factory, the largest ISO 9002 quality controlled facility of its type in the Southern Hemisphere, now includes an expanded timber shop and large metal work factories to construct this new range, which will be built using many of the custom yacht craftsmen and facilities.

Sydney Yachts Director Darren Williams commented this morning, ‘This is a most rewarding time for the Sydney Yachts team. We already have the largest One Design fleets, innovative new custom yachts and now the new Signature series.

We are all proud of the new series, now commencing production. The combination of world class design, state of the art construction facilities and our very experienced team, continue to produce fine products and we are continuing to build and expand on each success.’

Full specifications and further information will be available on Sydney Yachts newly launched website later this week.
