Catana 59 a magnet for crowds at GC Marine Expo

With its towering mast and streamlined posture, the Catana 59 is enjoying rapturous approval and strong interest at its Australasian launch at the Gold Coast Marine Expo, 1-3 November.

Hailed as the catamaran that will 'redefine cruising standards', this Catana 59 is fully optioned and available for immediate sale. A category-breaker with contemporary interiors similar to superyacht standard, the Catana 59 incorporates spectacular new innovations resulting from extensive shipyard research and planning.

Designed by Chantier Catana Architects, the catamaran is reassuringly strong due its Twaron-Impact construction process. Premium quality aramid fibre is used which is 10 times more resistant to perforation than traditional fibreglass.

The catamaran’s hulls were specifically designed to deliver impressive speeds while effortlessly accommodating a staggering range of equipment including refrigerator, freezer, desalination equipment, generator, oven, washing machine, dishwasher, wine cellar, television, air-conditioning, heating, diving compressor and many more inclusions.

Innovations drawn from racing cats include the use of the carbon fibre in its construction, which gives more rigidity for the speed of the boat to react, plus more lightness for improved performance; Curved daggerboard with hydrofoil effect; New set of sails with a thin main sail shape that enhances ease of manoeuvrability and with bigger front sails; Reverse bow similar to those on racing multihulls and straight hull shape similar to those on racing multihulls.

With a sleek, minimalist design that features the cockpit and saloon on the same level as well as a multi-purpose extendable lounge, the interior of the Catana 59 sets a new standard in style and comfort.

Offering defined living zones, the Catana 59 is spacious, stable and inviting. The galley and island unit, wide passageways and spacious cabins allow in ample natural light and ventilation. This unrivalled level of comfort goes hand-in-hand with high performance and 360° views, whether from the steering position, cockpit, saloon or chart table.

The exterior of the Catana 59 is streamlined and elegant, with its reverse bows and inward-curving daggerboards. The new hulls have achieved even higher scores than those of its popular predecessor, the Catana 58.

Benefiting from the very latest industry advances in recreational sailing construction, including the infusion process and use of carbon (now standard across all Catana models), the Catana 59 is a high-performance, lightweight and incredibly strong cruising catamaran.

'This truly is a powerful blue-water passagemaker that enables cruisers to undertake long-haul passages with remarkable speed while not compromising superior comfort,' said Mark Elkington MD at Multihull Solutions.

'It will appeal to those who really appreciate construction quality and design, those who want the very finest in onboard comfort during blue-water cruises,' he said.
