New Prowler taking shape

10 years after revolutionising the Moth fleet with the Prowler design moth fitted with T hydrofoils and an automated foil and wand control system that got the fleet off the water and reaching speeds of 25 knots or more, Fasta Craft is back in action building a new moth design yet to be named.
With a growing local fleet in Perth, Western Australia to support him and working in collaboration with Avalon Sails, John Ilett has decided he's got a few tricks to once again shake things up in the Moth class. The goal from the outset has been to make the boats much easier (and drier) to sail, without compromising on speed.
A lot of work has been done in recent years in further refining the foils, always looking squeeze that extra bit of speed out. For this reason, the new boats centreboard wing has been designed with consultation from a member of the Oracle Team USA design team. So far the results have been quite promising, but the process is far from finished. More details to come.
The hulls have also taken a new soft cat like aerodynamic shape, with the volume further forward, increased rocker and a deck layout receiving heavy scrutiny. The resulting design is a boat that will be lighter, more comfortable and easier to sail. Similarly, the all important foil control systems have been tweaked to provide that all important safety net at either end of the range, but without creating a system that is too active or requires too much attention from the sailor.
For regular updates, check out what is happening on the FastaCraft Facebook page and get ready for the free-for-all when these boats go on sale.
