NCYC winter series starts on the 26th May 2013

The Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club (NCYC) will be conducting its annual winter series each Sunday from 26 May 2013 to Sunday 7 July 2013.

Racing will be conducted over seven weeks with the intention being that four of the weeks will be offshore windward-leeward courses (two races per day) and the remaining three weeks will be around NCYC’s standard offshore courses (single race per day with harbor start and finish). The series will be scored on PHS and IRC and yachts can elect for PHS to sail non-spinnaker if desired.

There is no cost associated with entering the series which is via Top Yacht Entry system – Click here to enter .

For non-NCYC yachts, (that is, yachts that do not regularly berth at NCYC) berthing for the duration of the series will be provided free of charge conditional upon each visiting yacht agreeing to compete in all seven scheduled winter series race days.

NCYC is anticipating to have a fleet of 9-15 race yachts competing in this year’s winter point score and welcomes visitors from other Clubs to compete in the series. Vaughn Stephen’s Beneteau 40.7 Novocaine and defending PHS winter series champion has indicated his intention to defend his crown. However, with the first five placegetters in the 2012 winter series finishing within a six point margin and many yachts hot off Sail Port Stephens Novocaine and crew have quite a challenge in front of them.
