RS Sailing is proud to announce that the RS Range received a prestigious award at the fourth running of the Asian Marine and Boating Awards in Shanghai, presented on the first evening of the China International Boat Show. The RS Range beat off stiff competition in the Best Dayboat, Sportboat or Dinghy category because it had 'introduced many people to sailing in recent years and, having provided many thousands of people with their first introductions to sailing in Europe, are now bringing their expertise and range to Asia'.

RS, through its Chinese dealer Omnia Marine, is expected to play a big part in helping to build boating and the marine industry in China over the coming years. Omnia Marine is based in Shenzhen and has offices spread all along the coast, enabling them to offer first class service to customers in all the growing boating regions of China. In addition to the RS sailboat range, Omnia also distribute yachts, RIBS and larger power boats.

Managing Director of RS Sailing, Martin Wadhams, commented 'This award comes as an encouraging indication that the RS range is helping to develop sailing internationally, and now offers a serious opportunity in Asia. Following on from the appointment of Omnia Marine in China last year, we are about to announce a new dealer for Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia and already sell boats in Japan and Thailand, with numbers modest but now growing in those countries. Our range includes entry level training boats right through to high performance racing classes, and we’re passionate about the sailing enthusiasm they generate.'

Doug Sparks, and Weihong Zhuang from Omnia Marine Company, were present at the awards and are delighted with the accolade, a fitting reward for the incredible energy that he, Weihong Zhuang and the Omnia team inject. 'This is greatly appreciated and we thank the nominating committee and judges for the recognition received. We congratulate the other nominees on their success in Asia. One of the cornerstones of a healthy, vibrant sailing culture in any country is an active and growing small boat sailing industry. The RS Sailing line is comprehensive and well positioned to help sailing grow in China and Asia.'
