Only two sailing vessels have been nominated and short-listed for the International Yacht & Aviation Awards for 2013. They are the 33m sloop, Simba, and the 44m catamaran, Hemisphere. All the others on the short list were powerboats.

Simba:
International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2013 has shortlisted the 108 feet superyacht Simba, which is designed by the Dutch naval architecture studio Hoek Design and built by the Turkish shipyard Proteksan Turquoise.

Nominated for the Sailing Yacht 25-40 metres’ award, the voluminous Simba features a moderate freeboard, classically styled deckhouses, and a cockpit.

Designed with maximum luxury elements, the superyacht Simba features a full beam aft owner’s cabin, three guest cabins, a lower saloon, social main deckhouse as well as an aft deckhouse, which is the primary navigation station.

Completed by Hoek Design, the interior of the yacht features raised and fielded paneling combined with leather paneling above the wainscot level, which provides an elegant modern touch to the aesthetic of the decor.

Laying emphasis on the privacy of the guests, it features a completely separated crew accommodation with double crew cabins, crew mess, galley and a separate crew deck exit.

The aft cockpit is the sailing center of the yacht where all winches, navigation and helm station are located. The center cockpit is the social hub of the yacht and incorporates a large outside dining table sheltered by a fixed bimini. Apart from that, there is also the provision on deck to store tenders and other equipment.

Hemisphere:

Launched by the prestigious UK builder Pendennis in 2011, the voluminous 44-metre catamaran yacht Hemisphere (Project Gemini) has been named as one of the finalists for the International Yacht & International Awards 2013.

Featuring naval architecture as well as exterior design by bespoke multihull architects Van Peteghem Lauriot Prévost (VPLP), luxury yacht Hemisphere boasts beautiful interior design by Michael Leach. She represents one of the largest sailing catamarans in the world.

Pendennis superyacht Hemisphere can accommodate up to 12 guests in 5 luxurious and comfortable cabins, including four double cabins and one twin cabin. Service aboard is provided by a professional crew of 8, sleeping in one captain’s cabin and 3 crew cabins.

All-aluminium 44 m sailing yacht Hemisphere (Project Gemini) is powered by twin 490hp Caterpillar diesel engines, giving her a top speed of 13 knots and a comfortable cruising speed of 11 knots.
