ASMEX speaker finalist in World Superyacht Awards

by AIMEX/Superyacht Australia on 12 Feb 2013
Sam Sorgiovanni and AIMEX CEO MaryAnne Edwards AIMEX
Confirming the strength and high calibre of ASMEX speakers, Sam Sorgiovanni has recently been awarded as a finalist in the World Superyacht Awards.

Also demonstrating the significant strength of the Australian superyacht industry on the world stage Australia’s Hanseatic were also acknowledged in these Awards. Australian marine and superyacht companies continue to showcase their skills on the world stage.

The World Superyacht Awards showcases the unsurpassed skills of the superyacht industry across the globe. Australian superyacht designer Sam Sorgiovanni has been listed as a finalist in the World Superyacht Awards in the category Displacement Motor Yacht of 1300GT and above. Sam Sorgiovanni designed both the interior and exterior of the Oceanco mega yacht NIRVANA.

Nirvana’s superstructure is restrained in a functional sense creating a mature, robust form that evokes strength. Her swept back funnels and wings contribute to create a sleek silhouette that complements the curvaceous and distinctive hull lines.

'As a whole, I believe that the profile of Nirvana is an obvious progression from the style of charter yacht Anastasia. The overall objective was to create a more mature look but with an obvious family connection that is familiar with most of my work,' Sam said.

Sorgiovanni will share his wealth of knowledge and experience working on the world stage as a speaker at the ASMEX 2013 Conference. Sam will be discussing what superyacht owners want these days, what does the journey look like and as a designer what is the key to global success.

Australia’s Hanseatic Marine Engineering, manufacturer of world renowned superyachts are also finalists in the category Displacement Motor Yacht of 500GT to 1299GT for their innovative and inspiring build of 77m superyacht Smeralda.
The 2013 ASMEX programme is abundant with international speakers covering a broad spectrum of topical issues.

Organisers The Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) and Superyacht Australia have ensured that the programme is diverse and informative, covering key issues and emphasising opportunities within the Australian marine industry.

ASMEX is the key Australian marine industry conference and provides a platform to ensure industry is kept well informed and given the opportunity for valuable networking with colleagues. The ASMEX registration fee once again reflects the desire of AIMEX to ensure every business has the opportunity to attend.

This is a conference run by industry for industry. At $395 (inc GST) for non-members and $285 for AIMEX & Superyacht Australia members this is unbelievable value. Registrations can be completed via the Superyacht Australia website www.superyacht-australia.com and the AIMEX website www.aimex.asn.au
