Following the postponement of the official launch of the Boat Maintenance Handbook which had been scheduled to take place at the Tullett Prebon London Boat Show earlier in the month but was cancelled due to travel issues associated to the heavy snow, the RYA is delighted to now announce the books official launch.

The RYA Boat Maintenance Handbook is an essential read for any boat owner who wants to look after their craft as best they can and wants some advice on maintenance issues; from how much maintenance is too much, and conversely too little to how can I prevent a problem rather than cure it and how do I know whether what I’m doing is correct?

The publication is an ideal maintenance and repair guide that boaters will find indispensable for all routine maintenance jobs on and off the water, both above and below decks, inside and outside the hull.

Written by boat maintenance guru Andrew Simpson, readers will find the answers too many a maintenance issue, accompanied by colour illustrations, photographs and unrivalled expert advice on how to care for all of your boat’s fixtures and fittings, helping you tackle any task with complete confidence.

'While the focus is on moulded reinforced plastic boats, many of the topics are common to all modern leisure craft,' explains Andrew.

'As a boat owner myself I’m a little neurotic about boat maintenance so writing the book was a good way expunge some of this by writing about it and coming up with solutions,' he continues.

'The great thing about this book is it identifies the areas of your boat you need to maintain and explains how to do it in a very logical way, creating a surprisingly accessible and readable boat maintenance handbook', comments RYA Publications Manager, Steen Ingerslev.

The publication also provides top tips and advice along with extensive appendices that expand on the depth of valuable knowledge for some key areas throughout the book.

For those in the UK, to accompany the launch of this title the RYA has teamed up with ASAP Supplies to offer one lucky prize-draw winner £500 to spend towards any products in the ASAP Supplies catalogue until the 31st March 2014.

To be in with a chance of winning this great prize, simply buy a copy of the RYA Boat Maintenance Handbook directly through the RYA Shop and you will automatically be entered in to the draw. All back orders will also be included.

This prize draw will close on 30th April 2013 and a winner will be selected at random by the RYA Publications team.
