The Cruising Association changes skippers

by Sail-World Cruising round-up on 14 Dec 2012
Cruising Association - new ’Skipper’ SW
Britain's Cruising Association is a leading organisation for cruising sailors, not only in Britain but around the world, and it has a new 'Skipper'.

The three-year term of Cruising Association President Stuart Bradley is up, and long time executive, Committee member and Vice-President Desmond Scott has been elected to take his place.

As a sailor, the new 'Skipper' sails his own 32ft boat so is aware of the issues of cruising sailors.

Like many another cruising sailor, he came originally from a racing fraternity, but saw the light and gave competition away for cruising and joined the Cruising Association in 1997.

The organisation, whose patron is Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, provides services, information, help and advice to sailors worldwide.

Founded in 1908 to meet the needs of cruising sailors, the CA has been a home to many of the great names in sailing.

It publishes an almanac which covers the whole of the British Isles and Atlantic seaboard of Europe and has local representatives all over the world.

The CA has 17 UK and worldwide Sections providing specialised knowledge and events wherever the members cruise.

For more information about the Cruising Association, go to their http://www.cruising.org.uk/!website.
