Sydney 32 One Design Association Inaugural Meeting

The Inaugural meeting of the Sydney 32 One Design Class Association was held at Sydney’s Middle Harbour Yacht Club on Thursday June 12th 2003.

At this meeting the owners determined that the One Design aspect of the Class needed to be paramount in determining the direction of the Association.

Class Measurer John Anderson updated the meeting with progress on the Sydney 32 One-Design rules. He advised the meeting that there was now a Class IRC certificate. The 2002-2003 rating was 1.020

Racing Program. It was decided to prepare a draft Calendar, which would be initially based on Pittwater and Harbour events every alternate month, starting in September 2003. Thoughts were along the lines of three short windward-leewards in a day.

The meeting determined that the MHYC be approached to run the inaugural Sydney 32 Nationals as part of the JP Morgan regatta and it was agreed that the Joico regatta and the JOG titles should also feature in the program.

Sail-World undertook to provide a simple on-line Sydney 32 Class Association sub-site with news and event facility and subsequently a Boat/Owner data entry screen and a Sydney 32 Logo download facility.

From this meeting and subsequent voting it was determine that the draft Design rules point 6.4, which detailed specifications for Class, sails materials (which allow Pentex, but disallow aramids (Kevlar, Twaron) should be confirmed.
