19 August 2012: The spare rig cupboard is already bare

Another day on the water here in SF and a good step up in whine speed. By the end of the practice session we had breeze up to 28 knots so plenty of excitement!

We practiced with Luna Rossa today and I felt we improved markedly on yesterday. Crew work on these boats is going to be the difference between the teams in the top end conditions.

Unfortunately today Luna Rossa finished the day with a pitch pole which resulted in some serious damage to their wing. They will borrow the spare wing for the remainder of the regatta which means there are now no spares available. Considering 3 boats have capsized in the last 4 days it is going to be hard for the fleet to make it to the end of the event.

Tomorrow we plan to train with Artemis again and have a day off on Monday to recover and do some work on the boat.

Off to watch a replay of the All Black game now. We know the result already but always good to watch Aussie getting beaten.

All for now

Dean
