Maritimo and Nautilus Marine Boat Insurance launched Maritimo Insurance at the Sydney International Boat Show to great response from owners and prospective clients of both brands.
Some of the key features and benefits of the Maritimo Insurance policy are: personal effects cover up to $40,000 (which include watches, jewellery, cameras, laptops, mobile phone etc.), fine wine, fishing, diving and ski equipment cover up to $20,000, marina indemnity, repairers negligence, latent defect and automatic water skiers extension for the tender that belongs to the main vessel.
These are all included as standard features of the Maritimo Insurance policy, not additional extras.
'Having Maritimo Insurance is the logical evolution of the Maritimo brand,' said Garth Corbitt, CEO of Maritimo. 'The Maritimo brand appeals to discerning buyers, and our customers appreciate that the insurance offered under the Maritimo brand is very specifically tailored to their boat. Maritimo Insurance offers quality protection.'
Lyndon Turner, director of Nautilus Marine Boat Insurance explained that the company was formed seven years ago 'offering market leading policies at competitive pricing, tailored to boat owners’ needs'.
'It can’t be a one size fits all strategy,' he said. 'We have over 30,000 customers Australia-wide as well as clients in New Zealand, and we work towards customising insurance for every sector of recreational craft in the markets we operate in'.
Commenting on the alliance program with Maritimo, Turner said it benefits customers, dealers, the factory and both brands.
'We have had a similar program with other marine manufacturers for many years and it has been very successful. Premium motor brands have had insurance product affiliations for many years. It is critical to their offering. We will continue to promote the Maritimo alliance program through the dealer network.'
As the peak in insurance season approaches, Turner urges boat owners to check the parameters of their boat insurance. 'It’s too late once something has happened. You soon discover the limits of your policy when it comes time to claim.
'Nautilus offers a range of policies with unique features, such as for cruisers, waiving the excess if they are kept in a commercial marina pen, rewarding people for paying extra to secure their powerboats. We also have very high limits on gear and personal affects onboard.
'For keel boats, we offer race sailing insurance that covers 100 nautical mile races, including spinnaker insurance, so people who enjoy twilights and the odd weekend race incur no extra charge.'
