Newhaven & Seaford Sailing Club's annual sailing week was on the week of 27th July. We had spectacular weather, with sun and wind all week!
Only one of the 15 races was cancelled due to a shore break that was a bit too frisky to launch our cadet and inexperienced members. The morning races (for cadets and newbies) tended to have F3 winds, with F4 for the afternoon races that were open to all sailors. We even had a few races of F5 gusting 6 to keep our Dart 15 and Dart 18 sailors happy!
Over the week we had 38 adults and 14 cadets taking part in the morning races (Miller Cup) with 49 sailors took part in the afternoon races (Starter's Salver).
Classes of boats involved were ILCA 6 and 7, Laser II, Fireball, RS200, RS Quba, RS Feva XL, Pico, Topper, Streaker, Byte, Dart Sprint 15 Sport, Dart 18, Tiger, Hobie F18, Squib, Dynastar.

There was entertainment every evening, including a quiz, a talk on a round-the-world family sailing adventure, a BBQ night, and live music from club member Jamie Lynch's band Junkyard Pilots.
Many sailors camped out for the week in our on site field, so there was a true festival atmosphere!
Next year's Sailing Week is on the week of 26th July and is open to non-members.
