Musto, the world's number one performance sailing brand and a global leader in outdoor clothing apparel, has been announced as title partner of the Musto iQFOiL World Championships 2026, to be staged at Weymouth & Portland, UK from 7 to 12 September 2026.
- Performance sailing brand, Musto, strengthens its foiling credentials as headline partner to the Musto iQFOiL World Championships.
- The world's best riders will gather at Weymouth & Portland from 7-12 September to compete in this exciting Olympic class, racing at speeds of up to 35 knots.
- Musto is already a proud sponsor of the Royal Yachting Association and the British Sailing Team, this new partnership builds on the brand's commitment to the foiling disciplines.
- British Sailing Team iQFOiL athletes Emma Wilson and Andy Brown will be out to defend their respective 2025 World Championship titles on their home waters this year.
- The Musto iQFOiL World Championships 2026 is the first time the UK has hosted a major championship in the class, and the first World Championship on UK waters in an Olympic windsurfing discipline since 2009.
The event will see the world's best Olympic-class windsurfers (aka riders) descend on the Dorset coast for a week of high-speed, high-adrenalin racing on one of the sport's most iconic stages that was the home of sailing for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
iQFOiL is the cutting-edge evolution of the Olympic windsurfing class using hydrofoil technology to lift the boards clear of the water, even in lighter wind conditions. The iQFOiL class sees athletes racing at speeds of up to 35kts (65kph). Olympic medallists, World Champions and rising stars will be going head-to-head against the dramatic backdrop of the Jurassic Coast.
Musto's name will sit front and centre of the Championships, reinforcing the brand's commitment to the foiling disciplines that are redefining Olympic sailing and windsurfing ahead of the LA2028 Games.
Musto has been an official partner of the RYA and the British Sailing Team, as well as the Dutch Sailing Federation for many years, kitting out these nation's top Olympic and Paralympic sailors and windsurfers on the world stage.
The title partnership of the iQFOiL Worlds builds directly on that relationship, putting Musto at the heart of one of the most exciting disciplines in the sport. "The Paris 2024 Games saw the introduction of two new Olympic classes - the IQFoil and Formula Kite - and Musto responded to the huge growth in the foiling and kiteboarding sectors," said Musto Marketing Director, Nick Houchin. "Firstly, Musto overhauled the Flexlite Dynamic range to bring new design innovations that went a long way to improving performance on the water whether kiting, boarding or foiling where freedom of movement and protection is essential. Now, as title partner to the Musto iQFOiL World Championships 2026, we are building on our commitment to this high performance sector to ensure the class continues its astonishing success."
The British Sailing Team has quickly established itself as a force in the class, building on a proud Olympic windsurfing legacy which has seen British athletes winning medals at each of the last six Games, including at the iQFOiL's Olympic debut at Paris where Emma Wilson won her second bronze. Wilson and Andy Brown will be out to defend their respective 2025 World Championship titles on their home waters this year.
Niall McLeod, Musto iQFOil World Championship Event Director, commented: "We are thrilled to have long-term RYA partners, Musto, join the iQFOil World Championship for what will be a groundbreaking event for windsurfing in the UK.
"This is the first time since 2009 that the UK is hosting an Olympic windsurfing world championship, and the first-time a major iQFOil event is on UK waters, and to celebrate this moment with Musto is very special.
"We're expecting up to 250 windsurfers from more than 40 nations to head to Weymouth and Portland. It's going to be a fantastic celebration of the sport with Weymouth Pavilion coming to life on 12 September with a dedicated free fan zone for the championship. We look forward to welcoming Musto, members and other partners for an event to remember."
The Championships will also deliver ELEVATE:iQFOiL, the event's official social impact programme, using the inspiration of world-class racing to power participation, mentoring and education initiatives around Weymouth & Portland - a legacy Musto is proud to support as title partner.
Backing the athletes: Musto Flexlite Dynamic
The title partnership arrives alongside the continued rollout of Musto's Flexlite Dynamic range, a wetsuit collection engineered specifically for foilers and kiteboarders - the very athletes competing at the iQFOiL Worlds.
Developed and trialled by foilers and kiters from the British Sailing Team, including Formula Kite and iQFOiL athletes, the range was put through its paces during intensive testing sessions at Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy. Athlete feedback directly shaped the final designs, ensuring the range meets the demands of foiling's explosive accelerations, high-speed crashes and long days on the water.
Andy Brown, 2025 iQFOiL World Champion, British Sailing Team commented: "It's exciting to have Musto supporting the iQFOiL World Championships, especially with the event taking place in Weymouth. As defending champion, I'm looking forward to competing on home waters, and at this level having kit you can rely on is essential. The FlexLite Dynamic suit gives me the freedom to move and perform at my best, whatever the conditions, so I can focus on racing."
The Flexlite Dynamic collection spans a 4/3 steamer, 3mm shorty and 2mm long john, for men and women.
