The Musto Skiff fleet will head to Scotland this September for the Noble Marine UK Musto Skiff National Championship, hosted by East Lothian Yacht Club (ELYC) in North Berwick.

The four-day event, sponsored by Noble Marine, will take place from 10-13 September 2026, with registration now officially open. Sailors of all ages and experience levels are invited to participate. While most entries traditionally come from the UK fleet, the championship regularly attracts class members from outside of the UK, adding to the big-fleet racing experience.

The host venue, East Lothian Yacht Club (ELYC) is located on Scotland's east coast in North Berwick and is already a firm favourite on the annual UK circuit. Known for delivering both enjoyable and challenging sailing conditions, the venue combines excellent racing with one of Scotland's most attractive seaside towns. Visitors can enjoy historic streets, beautiful sandy beaches, and spectacular views of The Bass Rock.

North Berwick also has a wide range of accommodation options, from nearby campsites to self-catering apartments, guest houses, and hotels. The City of Edinburgh is also just a 30-minute train ride away.

Competitive racing across the fleet

The current UK Champion is Brightlingsea Sailing Club's Eddie Bridle, who secured the Nationals Title at Hayling Island last September, just three months after winning the Musto Skiff European Championship in Germany.

With a strong contingent expected from across the UK and recently crowned World Champion Rob Richardson fresh from his victory at the 2026 World Championship in Carnac, racing at the front of the fleet is likely to be close.

However, the National Championship is about much more than the overall title. With the class known for its good competitive spirit and a range of category places up for grabs, sailors throughout the fleet can expect close racing and some fun battles, from the Youth category through to the Legends.

The Champion Title and category places will be determined from a schedule of up to twelve planned races over four days, with a maximum of four races on any single day.

Sailing conditions at North Berwick

For the 2026 UK National Championship, a dedicated dinghy park will be established on Elcho Green, providing easy access to the launch area on the sandy beach of West Bay, just a short walk from the ELYC clubhouse.

Depending on wind direction and sea state, racing may be held in one of two nearby race areas, both accessed via the fairway from West Bay. The race area to the East typically provides steady breeze and some great waves, delivering exciting racing against the majestic backdrop of The Bass Rock.

Alternatively, courses may be set to the west of the harbour between the well-known local landmarks of The Lamb and Craigleith, offering an equally exciting and challenging racing experience.

How to enter the 2026 Musto Skiff UK Nationals

The Noble Marine UK Musto Skiff National Championship 2026 is open to all current Musto Skiff Class Association members. Entries can be submitted via the event page on the East Lothian Yacht Club website: elyc.org.uk/skiffs2026

Entry will be capped at 100 boats, with discounted early-entry fees available until 10 August 2026. Sailors are encouraged to enter early to assist the club in planning onshore logistics, volunteers, and catering.

The standard entry fees include participation in all four race days, access to the boat park and clubhouse facilities, two evening meals, and after sailing snacks. Additional evening meals for friends and family can be pre-booked via the entry form.

A reduced weekend-only entry option is also available and, once again, the class will provide a 50% entry fee subsidy for all Youth sailors.

Entrants can expect a range of awards and category prizes for the UK Nationals, providing plenty of opportunities to recognise sailors throughout the fleet, as well as the overall winners. Prizes, provided by long-standing Class Title Sponsor, Musto, will include a selection of premium performance sailing kit and clothing.

With four-days of competitive racing at one of Scotland's most iconic sailing venues, North Berwick promises to be a memorable championship for both experienced class members and those attending their first National Championship.
