The catamaran NICA has broken the all-time record for fastest AGORA direct Midsummersail. Under skipper Gorm I. Gondesen, the five-man crew crossed the whole of the Baltic Sea in 4 days, 14 hours, 25 minutes and 5 seconds.

The new record for the 900 miles is now five hours faster than the previous record by the monohull Class40, Red, set in 2022.

Skipper Gondesen said the challenge had been dealing with the light winds, but also the race against solo sailor André Bätz on his trimaran, Flaneur.

60 boats are still in the race from the southernmost point of the Baltic Sea in Wismar to the northernmost point in Tore.

More information and the race tracker can be found on www.midsummersail.com
