The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron's Brisbane to Bundaberg Offshore Yacht Race is officially set to launch this Thursday 18 June, bringing together sailors, spectators, tourism leaders and the Bundaberg community for an exciting new offshore sailing event connecting Brisbane to the Bundaberg coastline.

Proudly supported by Major Partners Pacific Tug and Bundaberg Port Marina and broadcast by radio Hitz93.9 in Bundaberg, the race will commence from the iconic Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron in Brisbane, with yachts making the 250-nautical-mile journey north to Burnett Heads. Boats are expected to begin arriving into Bundaberg from Friday 19 June through to Saturday 20 June, with the community encouraged to head to the foreshore to witness the fleet crossing the finish line and take part in the festivities at Bundaberg Port Marina on Saturday.

Sailors will be welcomed into port with drinks and fresh Bundy Burgers, while live music kicks off from 2:00pm, setting the tone for a relaxed coastal afternoon by the marina. A special "Meet the Sailors" Happy Hour will take place from 3:00pm - 5:00pm, giving the community an opportunity to mingle with competitors fresh off the water, while prawn peeling competitions will add to the fun, with heats commencing at 2:30pm.

Official race presentations will take place from 5:30pm - 6:00pm, where Queensland Governor Dr Jeanette Young AC PSM will join Mayor Helen Blackburn to crown the inaugural winners and present the coveted Pacific Tug Trophy.

The Brisbane to Bundaberg Offshore Yacht Race is expected to become a signature annual event for Queensland's sailing calendar, while also showcasing Bundaberg and Burnett Heads as premier coastal tourism destinations.
